NAFF Report - June 2004Comparison of reports of Iraqi prisoner abuse to experiences reported by North American survivors of criminal occult ritual abuse and government mind control atrocities: what happens to the survivors?
At NAFF, we are aware that many incidents of government-sponsored abuse, torture, and murder are perpetrated every day, in various parts of the world. On our Human Rights web page, you can find links to front-lines organizations that track, document, and report such atrocities. Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Human Rights First, and the International Committee of the Red Cross are some of the agencies that have especially been active in documenting and exposing serious abuses, torture and murder that have been (and are still being) perpetrated against detainees in Afghanistan, Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, and more. We have chosen to bring special attention to the abuse of Iraqi prisoners, because their stories are remarkably similar to the stories emerging from the community of North American survivors of specific kinds of criminally perpetrated traumas - particularly criminal occult ritual abuse and government mind control "experimentation" and enslavement. Before we begin to compare the stories between these two groups, we will introduce to you the most common experiences of North American survivors. These are experiences that most people continue to be totally unaware of, here in North America, for reasons that we will attempt to address throughout the report.
Late 1980s - reports from North American survivors of occult ritual crime and government-sponsored "mind control experimentation" were made public Many of the mind-breaking and psychological conditioning techniques that North American criminal occult ritual abuse and government mind-control survivors have reportedly endured, are reportedly quite similar to some of the crimes that U.S. government employees and contractors have perpetrated against Afghani and Iraqi prisoners and detainees. These techniques include drowning and resuscitation. Electric shock. Forced nakedness. Isolation. Sensory deprivation. Terrorization through the use of vicious trained dogs. Being forced to remain in certain positions for long periods of time until the pain becomes unbearable. Sleep, food, and liquid deprivation. All forms of humiliation. Verbal threats against the person. Verbal threats against the victim's family members. Blackmail threats. Coercion. Sexual assault. And more. Even the settings are familiar to North American survivors: being victimized by a group of sadistic sociopaths in a secretive setting, away from prying eyes. (We will mention sociopathy and anti-social personality disorder throughout this report. We do not, however, imply that all persons with this mental disorder are criminals; many choose to be law-abiding citizens.) Younger members of the general public are probably unaware that, for more than a decade, beginning in the late 1980s, many hundreds of North American survivors of criminal occult ritual abuse, and government sponsored mind control experimentation and forced slavery, came out of seclusion. Most of these survivors initially sought help from mental health professionals. Some survivors went a step further, sharing their stories with whoever would listen. Most of the emerging "mind control" survivors reported that they had been forced to participate, usually beginning in early childhood, in the CIA's MKULTRA program and other "experimental" mind-control programs.
Criminal occult ritual abuse, government mind control, and the mysterious Illuminati Most emerging North American mind-control survivors reported that they had also been forced to participate in extremely traumatic criminalized, occult rituals. Survivors often call this form of terrorization "ritual abuse" or "satanic ritual abuse." We now have reason to believe that many of these occult rituals were designed with the sole purpose of traumatizing, terrorizing, and dissociating the mind-control victims. And yet, many ritual abuse and mind-control survivors have also reported having been forced to participate in rituals officiated by other groups and networks of criminal occultists that appear to have been genuine in their criminal, ritualistic practices and beliefs. (Although some occult practitioners seem to have no problem with abusing and even killing other humans and animals, other practicing occultists - including some Satanists - choose to perform only rituals that are legal and non-harmful.) The vast majority of reporting ritual abuse survivors were traumatized during "Satanic" and Masonic rituals. Other ritual abuse survivors have also reported having been forcibly traumatized during secretive Christian, Aryan/Nazi, American Indian, Santeria, Voodoo, Jewish, and Illuminati rituals.
Certain individual criminals and criminally active groups and organizations operating in North America continue to be strongly opposed to our speaking out. Hands-on perpetrators are most likely to demand our silence, due to the fact that they have personally violated our legal, civil, and national and international human rights. Some of them may also fear that they will receive prison sentences, should judges and juries ever begin to believe us. Although some of these criminally involved individuals and groups may not normally cooperate with one another, they may make an exception if working together will protect them from exposure, civil lawsuits, criminal prosecution, and more. During the past decade and a half, many mind-control and/or ritual abuse survivors found and connected with other survivors...particularly through the Internet and conferences on abuse, where they also began to share their stories with mental health and law enforcement professionals. For more reasons than we may ever know, a backlash movement was quickly formed and was unleashed against the survivor community and against mental health professionals who attempted to help the survivors to mentally and emotionally heal. The assault came primarily in the form of a "false memory syndrome" disinformation campaign, primarily sponsored by a non-profit organization bearing the same name. As a result of diligent investigations by journalists and survivors, the False Memory Syndrome Foundation (FMSF) has been discovered to have been created and sponsored by individuals who are documented to have worked for, or been contracted by, the CIA in its MKULTRA program and more. Unfortunately, most of the public still does not know that mental health professionals who are (or were) members of the FMSF's "Scientific and Professional Advisory Board," and/or were directly involved in MKULTRA and/or closely connected to other professionals who were, have used the court system and media as soapboxes to convince juries and the public that: there is no such thing as repressed memory or recovered memory; Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) and its successor, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) do not exist; the alleged survivors' "false" memories were "implanted" by therapists; and/or the alleged abuse survivors fabricators, liars, and/or mentally ill. Frightened by the FMSF's sudden and vicious onslaught and the public's and media's resulting disbelief and withdrawal of support, most of the survivors who had gone public decided to stop sharing their stories. Some of them went back into seclusion. What silenced them the most was the knowledge that threats previously made to them by perpetrators had come to pass: when the survivors dared to tell the truth about what had been done to them, they were disbelieved; they were called liars; they were called "crazy."
Criminal occult ritual crime and government mind control atrocities continue to be perpetrated in North America Before we continue, we want to emphasize that the survivors who have recovered enough from past traumas to remember and tell of their experiences, are probably just the "tip of the iceberg". We believe that many more North American victims of mentally controlled slavery and criminal, occult ritual abuse are still being traumatized and enslaved. Unfortunately, because forcibly induced dissociation seems to be a common technique used by perpetrators, most of these victims are probably unaware that they are being harmed. Another reason they may never break free and tell is their abject fear of the perpetrators - some victims believe they are safer with the perpetrators, than they will be if they try to break their control and tell what is being done to them. Some recovering survivors have reported that they were free, only to discover that - in controlled, altered states of consciousness - they were still reporting back to local perpetrators. We have sadly discovered that there is no magic line we can cross, that permanently guarantees our freedom and safety. And yet, we who have remembered and are building new lives consider ourselves fortunate. We now have opportunities to experience things in life that we'd only dreamed of, before we began to break free. As we continue to repair our minds and lives, we remain concerned that many other victims are still being harmed and used as slaves on a regular basis, with no hope for freedom. Some are held as literal prisoners by their perpetrators. Some are sex slaves and prostitutes and couriers of illegal substances. Some are used to perform crimes on a regular basis for their mental controllers; others are used on a part-time basis. Regardless of whether their enslavement is full-time or part-time, it is still slavery and is still illegal. NAFF and other pro-active organizations are contacted on a regular basis by desperate victims who have awakened enough from their forcibly induced amnesic slumber to recognize that they are in danger. This occurs, even though congressional investigations into the CIA's MKULTRA program indicated that the program ended in the 1970s. This may be true. However, we now know - based on our own experiences and on information received from current victims - that similar programs (e.g., MKSEARCH, MKDELTA, and MKOFTEN) have reportedly continued these activities. We have also discovered that many other groups and agencies - including organizations involved in organized crimes - have used these and other related technology to continue the enslavement of untold numbers of United States and Canadian citizens - both children and adults. Added to this, the ongoing minimization and denial of the existence of criminal occult ritual abuse in North America has enabled groups of sadistic adults to torture, enslave, and even murder their victims in secret.
Denial and the need for safety We who are survivors understand the instinctive, knee-jerk need to to disbelieve such revelations. We want you to understand that we are no different! Most of us would prefer to believe that we live in countries where our rights are protected. We want to be able to trust our governments to protect us. We want to believe that officials tell us the truth. We want to believe that our governments would never permit or order torture and forced slavery - especially our torture and enslavement! Abraham Maslow determined that safety is one of humanity's most basic needs. This may be why, when mind-control survivors and victims were, or still are being, held against our will, tortured, drugged out of our minds, hypnotized, raped, terrorized and more; when our minds were being broken until we didn't even know who we were; when we were being professionally conditioned to become literal mental robots; we responded by instinctively splitting off, or repressing, these experiences and our memories of them, so that when we were at home (if we had one), we would feel safe. Just like you, we wanted to believe that by living in a democracy, our rights were protected. We wanted to be able to breathe easy and get a good night's sleep and not be frightened out of our wits, shaking when the phone rang or someone knocked at our door. We wanted to believe that the people we'd trusted to let into our lives were safe and that none of them would betray us. More than anything, we needed to feel secure and safe.
Forcibly induced dissociation, altered states of consciousness, and secretive enslavement The perpetrators who were proficient in mind-control knew that humans have this innate need. After using traumas, psychotropic and street drugs, hypnosis, and more to deliberately create dissociated altered states of consciousness in our minds, they knew that when we returned to our homes and "normal" lives, we would not want to remember what they were doing to us. They counted on our tendency to block-out the horror and terror by developing the altered states of consciousness. These altered states (really, other parts of our brain that we didn't normally access) would store our memories of the perpetrators and what they were doing to us. Thoroughly educated by CIA-contracted medical and mental health professionals, the perpetrators knew that if they would use unique combinations of sounds, words, phrases, scents, visual cues, hand signals, and other triggers to activate memory traces to those split-off parts of our brains, the perpetrators could then reaccess those heavily conditioned altered states of consciousness (a.k.a. "personalities"). As long as the perpetrators (mental "programmers" or "handlers") had sole knowledge of the existence of our altered states, they could stay in control of those split-off parts of our minds. Using further hypnosis, coercion, torture and more, the perpetrators conditioned those parts of our split-off selves to do whatever the perpetrators and their knowledgeable associates commanded. Hence, they were able to create fully complaint altered states of consciousness in our minds that we had no awareness of. Then they could train and use us for themselves, or sell or give us to other individuals or agencies, as literal slaves! What a deal! The people who used us didn't have to pay us for any of the work we did for them - if they wanted crimes committed, they could use us in those altered states, knowing that if we were caught and arrested, there would be no paper trail to trace back to them! And even if we should begin to remember the handlers and programmers - since they usually used aliases and hid their true identities from us, how could we identify them or prove that we were operating under their direct orders?
Why abused Iraqi detainees are less likely than North American victims to develop dissociative disorders as a result of their traumas If these dissociative techniques worked so well with victims living in North America, why didn't the Iraqi prisoners dissociate in similar ways when similar techniques were used with them? 1) They were adults. Most research has indicated that if a person is to develop DID, that person must usually experience mind-splitting trauma before the age of nine. (Some of us were traumatized from infancy into adulthood...once we began "splitting off" traumatic experiences, we could create altered states of consciousness for decades.) 2) According to recent reports, the interrogators weren't assigned to make slaves of the prisoners. Their primary job was to break the detainees' minds and wills so that the detainees would ideally release certain information. 3) Some of the prisoners were forced to perform unnatural sex acts with, or in the presence of, incarcerated friends. Even though they certainly would certainly have felt great humiliation at being forced to perform mock sexual acts on their friends, the presence of those friends may have helped them to feel cared for and less isolated. 4) Most of us were traumatized for longer periods of time, with many more techniques being used on us than were reportedly used against the detainees. 5) In North America, what we endured was perpetrated within societies that claim to be democratic and human rights oriented. Perhaps if we lived in a country governed by overt oppressors, or were in a prison unit (like at Abu Ghraib) run by abusive men and women, we would not have to go into denial - we would already know we were not safe! Here in North America, however, we are consistently conditioned to believe that our governments are "good." We are reminded that we "have it better" than people living in countries that are controlled by oppressive regimes. We are taught that our rights are protected. We are advised - even after receiving many reports to the contrary - that our government would never condone torture and would never allow its employees and contractors to break the law in similar ways.
North American victims' home personas and amnesia We survivors have had to cope with two continuously opposing realities. Is it any wonder that we would prefer to cling to the part of our lives that felt safest? Is it any wonder that most of us developed dissociative disorders? Most of the mind-control and ritual abuse survivors who developed altered states of consciousness to "compartmentalize" our traumatic experiences, also preserved our "home personas," or our original sense of self. Our home personas continued to navigate through the normal day, socializing with others and going to school or work (if possible), raising families and more. We were unaware that we had altered states that dwelt and navigated within a very dangerous world, albeit (in reality) the same world our home personas lived in. Metaphorically and unconsciously, we had to split our environment, our entire world into "good" and "bad," "safe" and "dangerous," to preserve our sanity and ability to function! After we mentally split our worlds, most of us had disturbing, vivid, recurring dreams and nightmares that reminded us of our hidden reality. Some had odd phobias we couldn't explain. On occasion, some of us performed self-destructive acts, not understanding that we were unconsciously acting-out what was being done to us in secret. Suffering from recurrent bouts of amnesia, some did and said things in our "normal" lives that we could not remember, even after we were confronted by people we trusted.
Memory repression, dreams and flashbacks We didn't understand that our brains and bodies are genetically "programmed" (a good kind of programming) to remind us of any knowledge that we prefer not to know or think about. In our sleep, blocked memories and awarenesses would push into our consciousness via recurrent or vividly symbolic dreams. Upon awakening, some of us - still opting for full denial - would attempt to repress the dream materiel. Those of us who could not, would wonder at our strange dreams and perhaps dread having them again the next night. Some of us also had flashbacks (snippets of memory) during waking hours that made no logical sense; no matter how hard we tried to ignore them, the flashbacks continued to erode our walls of denial and amnesia. As we struggled against reality, trying to find new ways to reinforce our amnesia, we didn't understand - yet - that what we pushed into unconsciousness would not tolerate being denied; the truth would emerge in other forms. In unique ways, nearly every mind-control and/or ritual abuse survivor has attempted to reinforce their dissociation in creative ways, further pushing the frightening, painful awarenesses away.
Some of the ways that numerous North American survivors have been affected by the atrocities Like people who black-out from heavy alcohol binges, some of us "came to," finding ourselves in strange circumstances. Others told some of us that while in the amnesic blackout, we'd done things that were completely out of character - even insisting that we have different names! Sometimes we chose to believe that the informants were "messing with our heads," making the stories up. Sometimes we wondered if we might have amnesia. That possibility was especially frightening! How could we control our behaviors and actions; how could we possibly stay out of trouble if we had bouts of amnesia? Some of us developed eating disorders in an attempt to push away the unpleasant awarenesses and magically control the world around and inside us. Quite a few gained excessive weight or developed anorexia and/or bulimia. Some of us deliberately harmed our bodies by mutilating ourselves with sharp objects, ingesting hazardous chemicals, smoking cigarettes to the extreme, repeatedly participating in unsafe sex, and more. Unaware that we had been conditioned by perpetrators to hate ourselves and our bodies, we unconsciously reenacted the abuse. We didn't understand that we were acting-out, against ourselves, the hatred that the perpetrators had expressed towards us through rape, torture, and other forms of abject sadism. Some survivors became increasingly confused about their gender and sexual orientation. Sometimes they would "feel like" they were of another sex, perhaps believing that these new feelings and desires proved that they must be bisexual or even transsexual. And yet, at other times, their sexual preferences would change back to whatever was "normal." (If they originally perceived themselves as fully gay or lesbian, they might now sexually desire those of the opposite sex.) Other survivors became very frigid or even asexual, avoiding physical intimacy at all cost. Some became involved in one illicit affair after another, not realizing that they were reliving the same form of socially unacceptable secrecy they had experienced when they were sexually assaulted or forced to sexually service perpetrators or their customers. Still other survivors became drawn to dangerous and self-destructive sexual practices, including sadism and masochism (S&M). Some became prostitutes; others went a step further, becoming dominatrixes or willing sex slaves (often called "submissives"), pairing pleasure with pain, not remembering that they'd been conditioned to confuse pain and sadism with sexual intimacy. Some would even seek partners who would take them to the orgasmic edge of death (e.g., suffocation) - not realizing that these were also trauma reenactments. Some would even use pets to reenact forced bestiality (a.k.a. "zoophilia") that had been committed against the survivor and animals by perpetrators during porn shoots and ritual traumas. A few chose employment in establishments that processed dead bodies, to secretly reenact forced necrophilia (sex with corpses) that had again been perpetrated during porn shoots and ritual traumas. Some survivors even gravitated towards jobs in which they routinely dismembered dead animals. Several reportedly worked in chicken factories. They now know that this was their way of reenacting having been forced to dismember and ingest parts of bodies of murder victims during cannibalistic occult rituals. Absolute terror dominated some of us. Some became hypervigilant, constantly on the alert, watching our backs and trusting no one. Some became agoraphobic, unwilling to leave our home or apartment or trailer because were were afraid of "something out there." Some became convinced that truly innocent people were plotting against us, not realizing that we were transferring our fear of the perpetrators onto them. Some chose to leave their homes, believing they were safer living on the streets. People who witnessed our fear sometimes labeled us "paranoid" - not understanding that we were globalizing and displacing our seemingly irrational fear. Some survivor suffered from anxiety and panic attacks and circular, non-stop thinking. Some of us developed obsessive-compulsive behaviors, inventing strange, secretive rituals in a futile attempt to control our world, creating for ourselves a fleeting sense of safety. Many of us had recurring, alternating bouts of mania and depression, sometimes feeling as if we were on a roller-coaster with no brakes. Some of our friends and relatives complained that we were too "moody." Many of us are still being diagnosed as having Bipolar Disorder, a chemical imbalance in the brain that causes similar symptoms. Many mental health professionals are still unaware that suppressed emotions can strongly affect our energy levels. They don't understand that that unrecognized and unexpressed rage (easily generated by abuse, torture, rape and more) can fill a victim's mind and body with enormous energy. Many of the survivors, especially women, who could neither tap into nor express their blocked-out rage would obsessively clean their homes or exercise to the extreme. Male survivors were more likely to "turn their rage outwards," becoming overly angry and aggressive towards others. Some "outwardly angry" survivors went to jail or prison as a result, never realizing why they had so much rage. Some survivors did the opposite, completely suppressing their rage-energy. Some were very afraid that if they tried to express their anger, they would not be able to control it. They were more likely to turn the anger inwards. Some harmed themselves; most became very depressed. Those who abused alcohol or drugs to self-medicate didn't understand that alcohol, and many street drugs, actually increased their depression. Many of us discovered that our depression was self-perpetuating because it interrupted our sleeping and eating patterns and influenced us to isolate from people who cared about us. Bottling up our emotions, we became more depressed. At times, we seemed to be in an inwardly dark, downward spiral with no way out. Feeling completely alone with the devastating emotions of intense pain and hopelessness that depression created in our minds and bodies, many of us felt so overwhelmed that we tried to escape the pain through suicide...never realizing that this form of depression was actually fueled by our suppressed rage. If we were fortunate enough to come out of the downward spiral of depression, we were often vulnerable to becoming depressed again, in the future. (Suicide fueled by depression should not be confused with "suicide programming" or "self-destruct programming" that is often found in survivors of occult ritual abuse and governmental mind control. Usually created through the use of trauma, torture, hypnosis, drugs, behavioral conditioning, and more, these powerful suggestions and commands are mentally implanted in the minds of victims so that, should they begin to remember who had harmed and controlled them, the survivors would automatically self-destruct, thereby protecting the identities of the perpetrators.) Some survivors chose partners who were abusive and controlling - again, not understanding that we were trying to reenact forced interactions with certain perpetrators. Many survivors became mentally, emotionally, and even physically disabled. We were debilitated by the effects of traumas we still couldn't remember. Some became psychotic, preferring a fantasy world to a world fraught with invisible dangers. Although many of us filed for disability benefits from our governments, only a small portion qualified. (If we couldn't remember enough to even say that we'd been tortured, raped, terrorized and more, how could we prove that we were legitimately disabled?) Many survivors entered psychiatric facilities - voluntarily and/or involuntarily - again and again. They were diagnosed as having schizophrenia, a psychosis, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), an anxiety disorder, depression, an explosive disorder, antisocial personality disorder, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and more. Some were unfortunately revictimized in those facilities by human predators in professional garb who recognized our symptoms and perhaps even knew which mental buttons to push to ensure our cooperation and silence. Even if we were attended to by professionals who genuinely cared, they often prescribed psychotropic drugs that temporarily curbed flashbacks, leveled out our mood swings, and sometimes turned us into rageless zombies....but never touched upon the hidden reasons for our "illnesses." (This often is not the fault of mental health professionals. Many are now severely limited in treatment options by behavioral health organizations that approve or deny payments to the professionals for the clients' treatment. Some Behavioral Health Organizations (BHOs) have informed professionals that they will not reimburse the professionals if they attempt to diagnose clients with Dissociative Identity Disorder; for this reason, many of these professionals deliberately misdiagnose their severely dissociated clients as having a bipolar disorder.) In our continuing attempts to cope with unexplainable memory blips and nightmares and emotions, many survivors became addicted to alcohol; drugs; occultism (a possible ritual abuse reenactment); indiscriminate, unprotected sex (a possible sexual abuse reenactment); and more. A surprising number of them became excessively religious or "spiritual." This makes sense: if one stays in the world of the spirit by staying in a trancelike state (perhaps becoming psychotic in the process), one is unlikely to feel pain if revictimized. Some survivors have believed, in a childlike way, that if they drew closer to their god, that the god (or goddess) would protect them from evil. Unfortunately, this belief may have reinforced their denial that they could be harmed again. Some survivors became overly dependent and ceded, to spiritual or religious leaders, their responsibility to develop their own beliefs and make their own decisions. Quite a few survivors chose "alternate" or more marginal religions. Some rejected Christianity because they had been harmed by perpetrators who posed as dedicated Christians - this includes an alarming number of religious leaders. Some unconsciously felt deep anger towards the Christian God for not having saved them or protected them from harm, even though they couldn't remember the abuse. Some survivors became involved in Paganism, as a way to practice a more innocent form of occultism, not realizing that this was their way of trying to heal from the criminal occult ritual abuse. (We are not suggesting that all Satanists are involved in criminal or abusive activities; many are not.) Some survivors were irrationally obsessed with perfectionism. Many became competitive overachievers in their jobs, academics and more. Perhaps they did this because they had very little self-esteem, if any, and only felt "valued" if they constantly proved themselves. Others were terrified of failure because perpetrators had "punished" them (e.g., torture) if they didn't perform assigned tasks perfectly. Some would even punish themselves, either through negative self-talk or through other forms of punishment, not understanding that they were reenacting what the perpetrators had said or done to them. Some even became suicidal whenever they erred. Some survivors needed to stay busy to avoid resting their minds, fearing what would come if their minds weren't constantly occupied. For the same reason, many of them also did everything in their power to avoid being alone and undistracted. Some survivors became "doormats" or "people pleasers", terrified of angering others, not understanding that their real fear was of angering abusive perpetrators. For this same reason, some survivors instinctively lied to others in a self-preserving way when they were caught doing something unacceptable, not realizing that they were protecting themselves from being tortured or worse. Still other survivors went in the opposite direction: they became the ultimate rebels. They had a seemingly irrational resentment towards any and all authority figures - bosses at work, teachers, religious leaders and more. They refused to trust any leader, and would - whenever possible - do the exact opposite of whatever they were told to do. As they acted-out their rage and fought the sense of powerlessness they'd felt when in the presence of perpetrators, some of these survivors dressed and acted in "antisocial" ways. Some became anarchists, hippies, punks and Goths. A surprising number of the obtained tattoos that actually made them human billboards, advertising - in an unconscious way - what had been done to them. (Many of these survivors had become addicted to the endorphin rush that came from strong pain, after having been tortured a number of times. For this reason, many of them also became addicted to body piercings, and some also mutilated their bodies on a regular basis. Others have explained that they gravitated towards tattoos, piercings, etc. because they were so disconnected from their bodies that intense pain was the only way they could "feel" it again.) Some survivors became part of the next generation of willing perpetrators. Tired of being the victims of others, they wanted to feel powerful. They wanted to make others hurt, the way they'd been hurt. Some remembered at least part of what had been done to them; others reenacted the abuse on others, never knowing that the same things had been done to them. Some operated on their own; others joined groups of criminals (e.g., some survivors of criminal occult ritual abuse became criminal occultists later in life). Some became masters in mentally controlling and abusing others. (For this same reason, some joined the military's Special Forces to become professional torturers and assassins.) Finally, some survivors were able to avoid all of these problems. They appeared to be balanced and healthy as they lived their "normal" lives. Some even became model parents to their children. Some dedicated themselves to providing their children the love, support, caring and protection that they hadn't received from their own caregivers. Some became successful in their business activities and relationships with others. Most survivors, however, found it necessary to utilize seemingly dysfunctional coping methods to escape reliving unbearable memories and emotions.
Events that can reduce or break-down amnesic barriers The following is a list of events that reportedly can contribute towards the reduction or breaking-down of traumatically induced amnesic barriers: 1) Care-taking a child who is the same age that the survivor was, when certain traumas occurred 2) Reaching age 35-45 3) Undergoing hypnosis or submitting to truth serums. 4) Consciously experiencing an event that is remarkably similar to an event the survivor is blocking out 5) Reading materials written by or about survivors who have experienced similar traumas 6) Experiencing a head injury 7) Being affected by a drug that was previously administered to the survivor by perpetrators. This is an example of state-dependent memory. Unfortunately, when the drug's effects fade, memories connected to the original drug experience will also fade away. Some survivors have experienced this phenomena when recovering from surgery. 8) Being in a safe, supportive relationship or environment 9) Working with a mental health professional on other "issues" 10) The death of a primary perpetrator (despite possible concurrent feelings of grief and loss, this event can increase the survivor's sense of safety)
Common experiences of initial memory recall, denial, and the desire to recant As their memories become stronger and more insistent, some survivors will seem to fall apart or decompensate. Some of their supporters will blame involved therapists for making the survivors "worse instead of better." They do not understand that, to truly heal and remember, the survivors are likely to encounter new difficulties and challenges as the mental veil separating the safe and unsafe parts of their life begins to lift, bringing both worlds together for the first time. (This is an ongoing challenge for mental health professionals who work with newly recovering dissociated clients. There are techniques that can help "cushion" the clients from the tremendous emotional and physical stressors caused by remembering and reliving traumatic events and betrayal traumas.) Working with a safe, competent mental health professional can be invaluable at this stage of recovery. Survivors who cannot afford or find a helpful therapist or psychologist may turn to a ministry, friend, partner, support group, sponsor from a 12-step group, or other individuals or groups who can help the survivor through the rough spots. Finding and connecting with other survivors who have coped with this part of recovery can be especially valuable for ritual abuse and mind-control survivors, who often discover that they have specialized needs that are not usually addressed during "regular" therapeutic sessions. Even when we accumulate sufficient support and feel safe enough to remember, we still will want to go back into denial. This is natural. We don't want to know that the world is not always safe. We don't want to know that certain people in our lives, past and/or present, have betrayed and hurt us, or delivered us into evil, possibly selling us to other criminals. We may discover that childhood relatives sold us out and even participated in our abuse. We may discover that our current partners have willingly cooperated with the "bad guys." We may discover that our therapists do not have our best interests at heart. We may realize that some of our friends aren't friends at all. We may even discover that our children are being abused by people we've trusted - or worse, that our children are also being used as literal slaves. Those of us, who have been overly dependent on others, may have to make serious life changes. This can be a big problem for several reasons. First, if we've been dependent all of our lives on others, we do not know how to live independently of them! Second, if perpetrators have fostered our dependence on them (especially financially), when we realize that they are dangerous and want to break away, they can become downright vicious in trying to keep control of our minds and lives. Third, if we remember that we're living with a partner who has caused harm to our children in covert ways, how can we prove this to a judge? Given the current political and judicial climate, dictated largely by the False Memory Syndrome Foundation and its associates, our partner will most likely be awarded full custody, and we may be accused of inducing Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) in the minds of our victimized children! As we ponder these new difficulties and challenges, we reach a crossroads. Whichever direction we choose to go from here, it will impact our lives in powerful ways. If we decide that it's easier and less painful to go back into full denial, we can again convince ourselves that we're safe, that the world around us is safe, that none of the emerging memories are real. We can again sacrifice a split-off part of our self to be reaccessed and retraumatized by perpetrators. The luxury of full dissociation is this: even if other "parts" of our minds or personalities are raped or tortured or worse, we won't have to feel or remember any of it! We may now be aware, however, that such a choice can be risky: while in those split-off altered states, we may inadvertently expose our children again to danger, get injured, relapse into an addiction, have an accident, harm others, get arrested, contract an STD, become pregnant (or impregnate a partner), or even die! For some survivors, going back into full denial is worth the risk. A sad joke among some survivors is: "If I die while I have amnesia, what will it matter?" By going back into full denial, we can feel safe and secure again. And we won't have to feel frightened or overwhelmed by increased responsibility for our own choices, behaviors, and future. Most of all, we can make the upsetting awarenesses - and all the horrid baggage that comes with them - go away again. If we decide to go back into full denial and try to resume the life we used to live, we may encounter a major obstacle. If we had begun to confront childhood family members or partners who have abused or betrayed us, they may demand that we prove our sincerity and our renewed loyalty to them. (After all, we are reentering dependency.) If other people know about the accusations we've made, the perpetrators will expect us to help them clean-up their damaged reputations. Not warning us in advance, they may also decide to somehow "punish" us to show other victims what will be done to them, should they attempt to break control and tell "outsiders" about the perpetrators' criminal activities! We may also decide to cooperate with these perpetrators and prove our new loyalty to them, because they have blackmailed us into cooperation - financially, emotionally, or even through pictures and other documents they secretly possess that prove that we performed illegal activities! People from healthy families do not usually comprehend the power that most abusive families have over their victimized members. Because most abusive families are closed systems; keeping outsiders and resources out and secrets in, their victims do not learn to rely on outside individuals and organizations for support and resources that they will need, to survive on his or her own! When going back to the abusive family system, the most practical way we survivors can make the perpetrators happy, is to totally recant our memories and blame our therapist, etc. for having implanted false memories into our minds. The perpetrators may even encourage or force us to sue the therapists, to fully cut all ties to the therapists and bind ourselves closer than ever to the abusers. If the perpetrators enlist the professional help of representatives from the False Memory Syndrome Foundation, we will most likely win the lawsuit. Destroying the therapist's reputation and career, and perhaps making the therapist bankrupt, can be sure revenge for the perpetrators, who often consider the victim to be their personal property. This final act can also ensure that the recanting victim will have extreme difficulty in securing future therapeutic resources, to break amnesia and gain independence from abusive family members. If the survivor chooses, instead, to go in the opposite direction by accepting increased personal responsibility and the emerging memories, the survivor may still need to go in and out of denial for a while. No matter how brave and determined the survivor may be, he or she can still feel overwhelmed by new memories, awarenesses, and powerful emotions that had also been split-off. As these survivors begin to accept and integrate their memories and awarenesses, they may discover new bits and pieces of verifications that can help them to stop thinking that they are "crazy" or "making it all up." For instance, although the majority of mind-control survivors have reported having no verifiable scars, etc. to prove their memories of having been tortured, some have discovered documentation that proves that sadistic professionals working for, or contracted by, government agencies like the CIA have, for many years, used the very same techniques the survivors have remembered - techniques that rarely leave any noticeable scars.
Beyond denial: gradual memory acceptance and integration Accepting the harsh reality that we are torture survivors, that people we trusted to protect and love us have betrayed us, and that we've been regarded by perpetrators as their slaves, can be devastating and demoralizing. Added to this, we will probably continue to be mentally and emotionally "flooded" by new flashbacks and intense emotions for a while. We may smell odors or hear voices or sounds that no one else can smell or hear. We will find it difficult at first, to live each day with "one foot in the past and one in the present." Some survivors call this a "juggling" or "balancing" act - pretending that everything's fine while privately coping with the effects of devastating awarenesses or memories. We may discover parts of our personalities that repulse or frighten us. We may find parts that were conditioned and ordered to perform grossly immoral or criminal acts that upset us so much that we reject these alter-state, thereby rejecting parts of our own selves. This is a crucial time for our support people (a.k.a. "pro-survivors") to model acceptance of those parts, and to help us understand that in those controlled alter-states, we were not responsible for what we were mentally tricked, tortured, and/or and coerced to do for the perpetrators. If the support people can accept our seemingly "ugly" parts without judging or blaming us, then we can learn to do the same. As we heal further, we begin to meld our mentally divided worlds ("overly safe" and "dangerous"), gradually accepting that they, and therefore we, are actually one and the same. We slowly integrate, or blend together, our shattered minds and personalities. Although many survivors are unwilling or unable to believe that they can integrate into what some call a "monomind", other survivors are adamantly determined to stay dis-integrated. Some of these same survivors will discover, however, that the same invisible, internal forces that brought them to the beginning of reality will inevitably lead them the rest of the way home to full knowledge of themselves and their lives, both past and present.
Most of the techniques reportedly used to break the will of Iraqi detainees had also been used to control the minds of North American victims As we let go of the vestiges of denial, we begin to accept that the traumatic experiences we had repressed, and now remember, were quite real. And, as we are now discovering through reports of prisoner abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, and at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba, the techniques that North American mind control survivors have remembered the perpetrators having used to condition and "test" us, and the behaviors and attitudes of the perpetrators, have been nearly identical in every way to those mentioned in recent reports by the media. In both cases, the victims were tormented, tortured, betrayed, and sexually assaulted and humiliated by secretive groups of sadistic individuals who reportedly worked for, or were contracted by, military intelligence personnel and/or by personnel from federal intelligence agencies. (In such situations in North America, the perpetrators would acknowledge that they worked for the government, but - as in Abu Ghraib - they usually used aliases and did not wear anything that could identify them. In many reports, however, survivors have been able to identify specific federal buildings, military bases, and more that they were transported to, to be covertly abused and used.)
Why we may have been chosen for victimization We understand your need to believe that the U.S. and Canadian governments would never condone or actively participate in such heinous acts against us and other citizens. We want to assure you that your decision to accept our stories is not likely to make you the next target. Typical bullies, these depraved individuals and groups work in secret to overpower and harm those who are more vulnerable. Most of us were targeted as children, often because someone in our life was already involved with the perpetrators. Oftentimes more than one adult in the child's life cooperated with the perpetrators; some of these adults were themselves perpetrators and even pedophiles (people addicted to sex with children). The importance of their being closely involved in the child victims' lives is this: not only could the adults keep a close eye on the young "subjects" and reinforce their mental programming and dissociation (through further abuse and trauma) at home; they could also ensure, in any number of ways, that the child victims would not tell anyone else. This would especially hold true if the child victims depended on the complicit adults for shelter, sustenance, and the like.
Why most perpetrators operating in North America still elude discovery and prosecution Next, we would like to share some of the ways that, we believe, these perpetrators have been able to operate in North America while successfully avoiding detection and prosecution: 1) Most citizens in Canada and the U.S. have been conditioned to believe that we are the "good guys", in comparison to countries whose governments openly violate the rights of the people. We want to believe what we are told: we are "better than them" because ours is a democracy, because ours is a Christian nation under God, et cetera. By adhering to these beliefs, we also can stay in denial, believing that we are magically "safer" than people living in countries that do not have righteous governments. We may even convince ourselves that we are magically safe from enemy countries; after all, our God will protect us! By clinging to our childlike denial, we unfortunately turn deaf ears to the cries of fellow citizens who are actively being harmed and brutalized by employees and contractors working for our "righteous" governments. 2) As we previously shared with you, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, many survivors tried to go public with their stories. After the FMSF tsunami wave hit, however, many of these survivors were effectively silenced and went back into seclusion. 3) Professional, sociopathic perpetrators and their associates do not play fair. They have used many creative methods to attempt to permanently silence the survivor community:
4) Some of the perpetrators have attained strong positions of power in our government. Such positions have provided them with access to large amounts of funding (e.g., intelligence agencies' highly classified black budgets), political clout, and a false belief that they are - because of their positions - immune from discovery and prosecution. Unfortunately, believing they are immune can make them more dangerous...they may believe that they can do anything they want to whoever they want, for the rest of their lives. 5) We eagerly look forward to the day when the public becomes sufficiently aware of the direct connections between mentally controlled slavery, criminal occult groups, hate crime groups (especially Aryan/Neo-Nazi), organized crime networks, pedophile organizations, and black marketing. The following are some of the illegal activities that link these groups: commercial sexual exploitation and enslavement of children, marketing of mentally controlled slaves, illegal pornography (child "kiddy" porn, bestiality, snuff/murder, necrophilia, and more), forced prostitution, transportation and marketing of illegal drugs and banned weapons, and more. We believe that many unexposed criminals and criminalized networks operating in North America continue to have powerful vested interests - primarily financial - in ensuring that the public will not become aware of their existence. For instance, the Washington, DC "Finders" cult investigation - allegedly involving international trafficking of children, and child and occult crime pornography, was quickly shut down by the CIA. 6) A common, although false, belief is that sadistic abusers are usually lone wolves; in reality, they often work in packs. And as they work together, they also cover-up for one another. As was documented at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, the perpetrators worked as a smooth and professional team as they sexually assaulted, terrorized, tortured, and even murdered some of their victims. 7) Unfortunately, our own denial as a nation has enabled such perpetrators to operate, nearly unchecked and certainly unexposed, right under our noses. We are too willing to believe and accept what government officials and the mainstream media tell us (e.g., FBI agent Kenneth Lanning's claims that occult ritual crimes don't exist in the United States). Until we are willing to let go of our denial and acknowledge that some people have strong reasons to deceive us, and that some groups of people in North America choose to commit acts as evil as what was perpetrated at Abu Ghraib, our denial will continue to enable these individuals and groups and agencies to continue hurting, enslaving, and even killing many more innocents. Our silence and denial does not ensure our safety and the safety of future generations...as long as these criminals believe that they are safe from detection and prosecution, their crimes are likely to increase and become more blatant. 8) As was witnessed at Abu Ghraib, the perpetrators worked in secrecy, away from prying eyes. The fact that we even learned about their crimes is a very rare historical event. It occurred for several reasons. First, pictures and videos were taken (detainees have stated that some were used as blackmail, to keep them quiet about what had been done to them - this kind of blackmail has reportedly been used to silence many ritual abuse and mind survivors). Second, one young brave soldier decided to take a risk and give photos to military investigators. Finally, our media obtained the pictures and chose to show them to the world.
The biggest difference between the stories of survivors in North America, and those of the abused Iraqi detainees, continues to be that North American survivors do not normally have photos and videos that prove the traumas they have been forced to endure. We do, however, have memories that won't go away. And some of our stories have been, at least in part, independently verified. Most important, we have physical, mental and emotional scars that were a direct result of horrors that we have endured at the hands of extremely cruel men and women. Those Iraqi detainees who were similarly sexually assaulted, terrorized, tortured, and mentally broken (at least temporarily) will, to some degree, experience similar mental and emotional difficulties - probably starting with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Most of the world doesn't yet understand that their nightmares have only begun. The kind of hell that they, and we as fellow victims, have endured will require much time and support to heal from. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's offerings of cash payoffs to the traumatized detainees won't even begin to bring healing to them. Even if some of them are able to heal enough to function again in their society, we know - from first-hand experience - that their lives and minds have nonetheless been brutally and permanently altered. Most of their visible and hidden scars and painful memories will never completely go away, nor should we expect them to. (As fellow survivors, many of us are realizing that we have the right to treat our scars as badges of honor.) As ritual abuse and mind-control survivors in North America continue to bring attention to the ongoing existence and long-term effects of these and other related crimes, we hope that you will be sufficiently moved to help ensure that our governments will root out, acknowledge, and fully expose these heinous covert activities and the criminals who perpetrate them.
