Altered States of Consciousness: Demon or Human?"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from all evil" - Matthew 6:13, RSV Bible This web page provides the opportunity for survivors and helping persons to share their perspectives about whether altered states of consciousness are demonic or human, or both. If you are a survivor or advocate, and would like us to include your opinion or perspective, contact NAFF at mail@naffoundation.org.
Written by a survivor who is also a mental health worker: I personally do not believe in demonology. I believe that disassociation is a highly creative coping skill that is used when a person is experiencing extreme trauma, pain, or torture. I also believe it is possible for alter states in an individual to be created by another individual by exposure to extreme circumstances, torture, or pain.
Written by a survivor: From my own personal history, I must insist that this is purely demonic and Luciferien in nature! I struggled with horrible demonic oppression from my mid-teens to about 2 years ago, when I took back control of my life, with God's (Yahweh's) help. I have my own web page and am publicly telling my story as encouraged to do by many who have endured MC [mind control trauma] and demonic trauma - many high-profile cases where I have initiated contact with the person. Others that just "fell out of the sky" as a friend of mine puts it. AKA, were bought to me by my Father. I am having extreme difficulty typing this, as happens whenever I reach out to a new contact, due to pre-programmed commands and electronic harassment. I have had to delete numerous typos, but I am hoping you will take my suggestion seriously. It truly IS demonic in nature!
Written by a survivor: Hi! I am a survivor of SRA. Alters are parts that have separated themselves off from the main consciousness of the person to carry the pain, trauma, etc. These are not demonic even though many of them can be very dark, angry, etc. But it is important to note that there is the demonic attached to them due to the trauma that gave the demons a legal right and a stronghold to stay there which keeps the pain and trauma from healing. These parts in order to heal must reveal the pain, put the blame where it belongs, to forgive and then get the demons kicked out who will torment them and limit their ability to truly heal from the trauma.
Written by a survivor: I just cannot see the idea of demons and demon possession as being anything but harmful - this is how survivors end up trying to "get rid" of "bad parts" when what is needed is to embrace and connect with all the broken parts. People go through harmful "exorcisms" conducted by charlatans. All our parts are precious and needed. There are no "demons" inside us or anyone else. If you believe in dissociative disorders, and healing of all the parts, it can't be "demons". The same can be said for those of us who suffer from OCD [Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder]. If there are "demons" causing the thoughts, some of which may be sacrilegious, it becomes a terrifying situation, and one which only feeds the OCD. The repetitive repeating of a phrase to try and counteract the "bad thoughts" is part of the disease itself. If OCD is a defense mechanism which can be treated with meds and exposure therapy, much of the anxiety goes down. I saw a woman on TV who was Catholic, she did believe in demons, but was reassured that her OCD was not caused by anything supernatural. By doing exposure therapy, in which she spoke the words she was so afraid of, using a tape recorder, she was able to find a great deal of relief. It is the same technique I use with my OCD, which tells me not to walk across a handicapped parking area - I purposely walk through it. Exposure therapy. At various times in the past I'm sure that things which we now know are physiological were considered signs of demons at work. Conditions when parts of the body move uncontrollably, or people tear out their hair, stuttering, Tourette's Syndrome, epilepsy, etc. I know of a man whose baby cried a lot, and so they wondered if the baby had a "demon." This is looking at the baby and seeing her as "bad" or "dangerous" or "evil." You can't love, nurture, heal, protect, and embrace the parts, whether they are child parts or any age, if you believe they are evil. To say they are bad is only saying the same thing to yourself as the abusers did. And they only said that to us because inside, they themselves felt so small, and vulnerable, and helpless, and wounded, and could not stand to embrace and accept those parts of themselves.
